During national recycling week EC took part in Planet Ark’s Monday Muster.
We rifled through our drawers to find the old dusty handsets we’d been hoarding, in some cases for years. Once upon a time, these were kept “just in case,” but now, increasingly unlikely to see use again they were e-waste.
The action of collectively doing this together meant that resources could be shared. The result of this was that one lucky phone found new life when someone repurposed it as an emergency phone for their kids!
For the rest, our data was backed up and erased, and our phones reset to factory format before wrapping them individually in bubble wrap and dropping them in the post.

Now they are off to be disassembled and the materials recovered via Mobile Muster’s certified pathways for the recovery of valuable materials.
